The year is coming to an end, and our class’s project with it. First, an update on our progress, my group has been working on making a website and various social media accounts to raise awareness to Something Deeper Ministries. We also made a slide to raise awareness that a classmate will advertise at the local Chalet Theater using his connections there. While the rest of our class has been doing multiple things including supplying farming tools to the community we are helping in Uganda as well as plans for making keyhole gardens.

On a different note, this class has been very interesting and different then anything else I have experienced academically. Because it has both been very interesting content and also tough and challenging, but not only that, it is stuff that really matters in the world and is useful to learn about. We have gone through an entire year of college course content and yes, I have gotten the grade that I wanted, but not only that, I learned a lot focusing on the content itself and the learning.

This AP with WE project that we have been doing has really opened my eyes to problems around the world that we definitely do not witness every day in our own lives. But this has allowed us to not only learn about it but also have the chance to make a difference in it. Before I was in this class I knew nothing about AP with WE, but now I am happy to have taken part in a project through it. I also enjoyed the fact that we could simultaneously learn about human geography and also impact the world.

This class and journey definitely has had hardships and challenges. As far as the class itself, it was challenging to adapt to the studying and textbook reading for our infamous chapter tests. And also just getting used to the pace of learning this class brings with it. On the AP with WE project we did, there was also tough times, mostly it was the fact of starting up our project and actually get it going, but once we did that, it all started to come together.

To close things up, I feel that this class and journey has brought me many joys, and also many challenges that have made me a better person. I am glad that I took this class and participated in our AP with WE project, and I hope to do something along those lines again at some point in my life.

Our AP with WE project to help those in need in Uganda is starting to feel more like a plan, then an idea, or, something hypothetical. Firstly, the progress my group has made, is with help from other classmates we have made a website, Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook. The purpose is for people to be aware after hopefully seeing any of them. We have also decided to include the link to Something Deeper Ministries, which is the couple Rachel and Isaac we are helping in Uganda. Our fundraising group was originally going to try to make a Go Fund Me account and try to raise money that way. But after it became too difficult to sort that out with our school, we decided to use our social media to give people the link to Something Deeper Ministries. And if they decide to, then they can donate on that website. The rest of our class is deciding to more directly provide help. By sending over farming equipment, menus for eating diets, seeds to start gardens, and education on hand washing.

Introduction

Hi my name is Jack Craighead and my teacher Mr. Murphy asked our class to start blogging for a grade, so I am going to do this for that and also because it will be a good thing to have towards the end of high school to look back at. On the topic of my human geography class, it is the most challenging class I am taking this year and that is a good thing because it pushes me to work harder and learn more. So that is what the majority of my blog entries will most likely be about. The other classes I am taking are Algebra 2, Spanish year 1, P.E., 9th grade English, and Biology. It is second semester and first semester I had A’s in my classes, and I will work to do that again this semester. As far as school sports, I played golf back in the fall of 2018 and next year I am thinking of playing something else as well. That’s a little about myself, now about my AP with WE journey.

AP with WE

We have talked about our AP with WE project throughout the year on and off, but lately we are starting to put ideas into actions, and plan our goals to make a difference. Our class is doing a project based on food insecurity along with access to healthcare. We decided to take a global approach rather than a local one, so we are helping a couple named Isacc and Rachel to get their hospital in Uganda going, and to help with it’s needs for things like food and recipes. My group in the class has chosen to try to fund raise money to put our classmates plans into action. We haven’t gotten very far, but it’s a start.
